“Citadel of memory"

Situated in the urban district 3 Padova-Est the "Citadel of memory" unites a number of places of memory that are dedicated to the victims of Fascism, National Socialism, violence and terror of war. To get to the Museo dell'Internamento the visitor passes through the "Alley of the unknown Prisoner" where he finds a series of memorial stones engraved with the names of persons, that died in German concentration camps before and during the Second World War. 
On one side of the Alley is situated the "Temple of the unknown Prisoner" led by Father Don Giovanni Fortin and a special place of rest and silence that keeps the memory of those who suffered and died in German concentration camps. The alley is determined on the other side by the "Garden of the Righteous of the World" were memorial tablets and trees are dedicated to those persons who opposed against inhumanity, violence and terror of war. Together with the other places of memory the museum and the "Temple of Peace" contribute in conserving the commemoration of the victims of wars.
